Discovery Set: How to find your signature scent without a bad buy

Buying a niche perfume for over 200 € blind is a risk. The fragrance smells different on paper than on skin, different in the morning than in the evening, and in the shop everything smells the same after the third test anyway. That is exactly what Discovery Sets are for.

What is a Discovery Set?

A Discovery Set contains several fragrances from one brand in small vials, usually 2 or 3 ml. This lets you wear each fragrance several times at your own pace, in everyday life, over the whole day.

How to test properly

1. One fragrance per day: Wear one fragrance in the morning and pay attention to how it changes over the day. The first impression is often not the most important one.
2. On skin, not on paper: Your skin chemistry and body heat change a fragrance.
3. Smell again after 3 hours: Now you smell the heart and base notes, which is what you wear most of the time.
4. Take notes: Briefly write down what you like and what you don't. Otherwise everything blurs together after five fragrances.
5. Watch for reactions: If someone mentions a fragrance to you, that's a good sign.
